                                            Report by Adam Pendlebury

It was a case of home sweet home as Cosmos put in their best performance of

the season. Against the previously unbeaten HSM, Cosmos looked assured

                                            throughout and dominated the game.

The first half was not one for the neutrals (one man and his dog!) but the half

was lit up by 2 pieces of magic. First Hertz-Dirty-Henning hit a fantastic 40 yard

shot that bulleted into the top corner of the net before the impressive “Tudor

house type customer” burst through the HSM defence and coolly slotted home.

In-between there was a goal from HSM that was totally against the run of play.

The 2nd half started slowly but was set alight when the superb 400 metre runner took an excellent Eddie pass in his stride and ‘sweetly’ struck  a shot into the corner of the net. The match was killed off when the hard working Eccles easily beat the HSM centre half and was cynically brought down. Cal then broke the world 80 metre record as he raced into the box and with Geoff Capes like strength wrestled the ball off Dave. Great penalty though from the skipper to make it 4-1.

I missed the HSM 2nd goal so I will take a stab in the dark and Blame Bristow (only joking)! If he was to blame he certainly made up for it by he making 2 crucial saves as HSM rallied late on. All in all a really positive performance, miles better than last week!

Moan of the day – meeting at 1pm for a team photo when JP turns up half hour late without having booked the photographer! Well done Dearns for doing your David Baily impression!

That’s Mr Januarys out of the way, any volunteers for February?
